I have fallen victim to the dreaded virus. How? Why? This I will never know for sure. What I do know is I was able to salvage the most important things on my hard drive before it was re-formatted. But, my computer is only half-way saved... for some reason, I am unable to use the USB drives (hence, no photo uploads from my camera), nor am I able to transfer the files from my external HD onto my newly formatted computer. Not to mention, I lost ALL my bookmarked recipes from all of you awesome bloggers. Looks like I'll be starting from scratch.
I hate technology.

Oh my god, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope your PC can be fixed soon. Btw, you may use google reader to subscribe rss feeds of your favourite blog sites, so even if you have lost the bookmarks you may still check out the blogs anywhere anytime, ^^.

that sucks! My screen just cracked last weekend so I'm only using half a screen...the Geek Squad told me I'm better off buying a new computer (which i can't afford)! ugh!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I know that it is too late, but going forward, you should think about using online tools such as delicious for your bookmarks and either evernote or dropbox for your recipes.
Technology either helps you out immensely, or destroys your life! It's funny to think how a simple virus in our computers can affect so much of our lives... maybe we depend on technology too much. It's an interesting social phenomenon. anyway, I had the virus too, a couple of months back, so I know your pain! Good luck, fingers crossed for you :)

oh, I'm so sorry! I can't live without my laptop, so I totally feel your pain! Why not get a macbook? It's much more virus-free!
hi friend. boooooooo. i wish i could fix it for you but idk how my bff rose. :( when you're back up and running, try out google bookmarks. that way you won't lose your favorites again, they'll be stored on the internets.

I feel your pain. We had a computer problem that we believed to be a virus and went through some of the same things you are going through. The lady that repaired ours was able to save our favorites and restore our email, which was a big help. We now back up everything on an external hard drive. However we still lost our picture program which forced us to buy Adobe, which I now love.

I am so sorry to hear about the virus in your computer...I know exactly how you feel, we just had the same issue last weekend.
Aarrrgh! I'd be nuts. However, think how much fun finding recipes can be?
Nooooooooo!!! Blasted technology! Christina, I hope you're able to get everything up and running again. My computer's on its (9th) last leg, and I fear the day it finally goes to the computer landfill in the sky.
